Engineering Panel: At what cost? Circularity, innovative materials and electrification (14.45) (In Swedish)

What engineering-specific challenges result from these fast rates of development?

Is electrification really the answer to everything? What would happen if we were wrong and needed to revaluate our processes, even down to their smallest parts? Could open-source approaches be applied to circularity in order to improve upon our shared journey forward?

In the Engineering Panel discussions are held between representatives on stage who will then answer questions from the audience.

INTERVIEW

Interview #1: Klarna: What’s it like working for an industry disruptor? (14.45) (In English)

  • Why did you want to become an engineer/ why did you join klarna as an engineer?
  • You have been at Klarna now for 2 years, did the expectations match reality – how do you contrast your experience at Klarna to the experience at past employers?
  • I’ve heard about your values and principles at Klarna, can you tell us more about this?
  • Your team is responsible for facilitating the authorization of the purchases through Klarna. How does that work – the technical aspects of facilitating an actual payment in real-time online via Klarna?
  • Black Friday and holiday season are coming up, which are your peak volume happenings of the year, right? How do you prepare for this and what challenges does this pose?
  • Can you tell us more on what is coming up next for Klarna payments for our customers here in sweden?
  • Finally, what engineer roles are you looking for and challenges do you have in front of you that you need help solving? Where can we read more about this?

  • What kind of products do you work with at the City of Gothenburg and what different types of engineers do you therefore need?
  • Do you want to tell us in more detail about a more specific project/product that you are involved in?
  • You lead engineers in your daily work. Tell us more about what’s fun about it and what challenges you face in that role?
  • What future visions do the city of Gothenburg and you have for the modern city that you are building?
  • Where can you find out more about your open positions and opportunities?

Interview #3: Reduce industry's carbon dioxide emissions using offshore wind and hydrogen (15.35) (In Swedish)

  • How was it that you were drawn to become an engineer in the first place?
  • Your role at Vattenfall is Head of systems projects offshore wind. Tell us more about your overall mission at Vattenfall and why it is important.
  • You also work with electrification and reducing industrial carbon dioxide emissions, can you tell us more about that?
  • You (Vattenfall) have recently (this summer) talked about your investment in producing hydrogen by building offshore wind power here on the west coast. Why are hydrogen, offshore wind and the West Coast good approaches to achieving your goals?
  • There is no offshore wind farm that produces hydrogen today. What are the challenges and why do you choose, for example, to produce at sea and not on land? How does it work in practical terms?
  • When is this wind farm and hydrogen production up and running? What other trends and future visions do you see in this area for you and globally?
  • What roles and challenges do you want to add and where are they? Where can we read more about this?

Interview #4: Swedish Armed Forces - Not the usual office job (16.00)

  • Why did you want to train as an engineer in the first place?
  • You work for the Swedish Armed Forces and are both a defense engineer and an officer. You have worked with everything from submarines, naval tactics, logistics and now unmanned underwater vehicles. Tell us about your career so far and what your mission was at each location?
  • Many engineers today do not want the traditional office job. Why then is the Armed Forces a good employer?
  • You have now applied back to the academy and are doing your doctorate at KTH on behalf of the armed forces. Why is it important to do research on “unmanned underwater vehicles”, as you do? What are the different areas of use?
  • However, we have had torpedoes and the like for many years. Why then can unmanned vehicles be considered controversial?
  • Why is it more difficult to monitor, control and communicate with a device underwater than in the air? What different approaches are available?
  • Do we already have today, or will we have in the future and if so when, underwater drones that perform tasks on behalf of the military? What kind of information could that be?
  • Finally, what kind of trends do we see globally and what can we, for example, learn from the war in Ukraine to shape the Armed Forces’ future investments?
  • Where can we read more about this? Which roles and challenges do you need help with and where is it in the country?

Interview #5: Swedish Armed Forces - 500 years of innovation at the forefront (16.25)

  • What do you find fun about solving technology problems?
  • Which part of the Armed Forces do you work in and what is your mission?
  • Describe how the process goes when you have to develop a new technology solution/system? Please give examples of when you have done it recently and perhaps a solution/system that we have heard about or that you can tell us more about?
  • Historically, the military has often driven technological development in society. More recently, with long peace, civil society (or industry) has come up with a range of new technologies. How do you see the Swedish Armed Forces ensuring that you are at the forefront and why is it important?
  • Are there also risks with “being too much at the forefront” and do you have any examples of that?
  • In industry, the goal is often to sell your product to your customers and make a profit. With you, the goal is… well, what is it? How do you know at the end of the day/or the end of a project that it was successful? How do you measure it?
  • The future – what does it look like with a changing climate including NATO and an increased budget?
  • What roles and opportunities do you have for those who are interested and where are these in the country? Where can we read more about them?

Ingenjörsdagen After Work

Hang out and pose questions to company reps in person! Meet with colleagues and discuss issues brought up throughout the day. Enjoy!

Includes Silent Disco for those who want to participate.

Masterclasses

Our masterclasses are lectures at a more advanced level where you get to learn about a subject in-depth, under the guidance of a recognized expert in the field. Usually, a limited topic is treated, and you get to take part in the expert’s tips and practical experiences and can ask questions.

20 people can participate in each masterclass. This means that there is room for discussions and questions. As there is a limited number of places, we are happy if you cancel your place if you can not use it, so that someone else has a chance to take part in the master class.

The masterclasses will be presented shortly and published regularly on our social channels – do not miss to follow us there! If you have any questions, get in touch with us by email, and we will help you!

Once we have determined which masterclasses will be in the program, you will be able to book them at the same time as receiving headphones and programs at check-in.

Film and photos from Engineer Day 2022

How it works

Engineer Day is a so-called silent event – a concept where you use headphones with several channels to listen to various interesting lectures and discussions.
The room is divided into different areas where there is the opportunity to network, attend exclusive masterclasses, listen to live podcasts and hear interesting discussions at the main stage.

How the headphones work

The programme contains different events, some of which run in parallel. You get headphones so you can listen in simultaneously. If you take off your headphones, you show that you are open to conversation.

The headphone is switched on by pressing both the orange buttons on the back of the headphone simultaneously for about 3 seconds. The same goes for turning off the headset.

To increase the volume, press the orange button on the left side one click at a time. The volume is reduced by holding down the orange button on the left side.

To change the channels, press the orange button on the right side of the headset.

Book your free ticket

The number of tickets is limited so secure your seat before we run out of space! All events are free of charge.
I consent to Lintigroup using my personal data to register me for this event, send me updates and information about this event, and inform me about other events.
